world water day – 22nd march 2023

thousands have lived without love, not one without water

today 1 in 4 people live without safe drinking water. almost half of the global population lack access to safe sanitation. billions of people and countless schools, businesses, healthcare centers, farms, and factories are being held back because their human rights to water and sanitation still need to be fulfilled. water affects everyone, so we all need to take action.

so what can we do to help?

at hicce, not only do we believe that you deserve the very best, we want to make a difference with everything we do. that’s why we’ve partnered with BELU to offer fresh filtered water at our king’s cross restaurant and market, as well as at our pub, hicce hart, in islington. BELU has been putting people and the environment first since 2007, donating 100% of their net profits to changing the way the world sees water. since 2011 they’ve given WaterAid over £5.5 million to help bring clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to everyone, everywhere. with these basics, entire communities have been able to unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. they don’t stop there – beyond installing taps and toilets, WaterAid convinces governments to change laws, links policy makers with people on the ground, pools knowledge and resources and rallies support from people and organisations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale.

so no, we don’t do tap. instead, you can enjoy unlimited still or sparkling filtered water during your time with us at hicce, hicce mkt or the hart with a voluntary £1 donation to WaterAid. with your help, we’ve donated a total of £80,000 to this great organisation, and are incredibly proud to make a difference daily to people’s lives.
